Editorial policy
Here are the rules we follow when preparing the texts on this site. The same rules cover how an already published piece is corrected.
Who prepares the texts
Material is prepared by a named author rather than an anonymous desk. Questions about the content go to the author, not to a nameless support desk.
Material on this site is prepared and checked by Sienna Hartwell.
Where the data comes from
Figures, dates and quotations are checked against the primary source. When a statement relies on someone else's data, the text names the owner of that data and the period it covers.
What to do if you find a mistake
A report can be written in plain words — it only needs to say where the problem is. If the error is confirmed, the text is corrected and the reason for the edit is shown on the page.
